The eighth edition of the series of action arcade games based on one of the most famous Chinese historical novels - Legend of the Three Kingdoms. The title does not introduce revolutionary changes to the beaten formula, extending the gameplay with new elements and re-introducing solutions from previous parts.
Dynasty Warriors 8 (in Japan known as Shin Sangoku Musou 7) is the next installment of a series of action arcade games, taking us to ancient China and allowing us to face dozens of opponents at once. Traditionally, the title strikingly tries to show the story described in the popular in East Asia novel Legend of the Three Kingdoms, depicting the fictionalised history of the civil war that took place in the Middle Kingdom at the turn of the second and third centuries of our era. The game is produced by the Japanese Omega Force studio, and the publisher is Tecmo Koei.
The game combines elements of a strategy that requires the player to manage and control a territory-divided board and a typical slash hack`n, in which we fight dozens of opponents, using a variety of weapons and special skills. Each of the characters (there are more than 70 of them in total), which we direct on the battlefield, has its own resources of attacks and skills, unlocked along with gaining experience in combat.
Starting the game choose one of the play modes. Thanks to Story Mode we will once again get to know the fate of individual heroes of the epic conflict between the fighting Kingdoms. Each of the story levels has been assigned to specific characters. It is worth mentioning that the creators also made available alternative scenarios, allowing them to take part in events differing from the generally accepted canon. The campaign can be run in single or multiplayer mode. In Free Mode we fight in the chosen location with any heroes, including those in which we can't play during the campaign. In Commander Mode we erect a tower whose popularity and beauty must surpass all similar buildings in China. We gain building materials by participating in further duels and battles, which further strengthen our fame and allow us to recruit new assistants.
The graphic design of the title has not changed much compared to previous releases on PlayStation 3. The only noteworthy novelty are the new models of characters and weapons, as well as the fact that during the duels the characters get dirty and destructive.
