Blizzard shared more info about the planned housing mechanics, which is set to hit World of Warcraft this year. After recent news about the basic principles that guide the company on this subject, we learned the details about interior decoration. The customization options are really impressive and, according to announcements, seem to offer a lot of freedom.

Two decoration modes: simple and advanced

According to an article published by Blizzard on the official World of Warcraft website, the interior decoration system will offer two modes: basic and advanced. We will be able to switch between them freely.

  1. The basic mode will allow for quick placement and moving of objects with certain limitations (on a grid) to facilitate efficient space organization for players. In the videos shared by Blizzard, it looks very simple and intuitive, yet still offering many options.
  2. Advanced mode will remove all restrictions and add additional tools, such as the ability to freely rotate and resize objects. For example: some items in this mode will be able to overlap each other. If, for some reason, we want to slide a table into the wall, go ahead; we have the freedom to do so (screenshot below). This mode promises to be a real treat for creative decorators.

According to the developers, players will have the ability to modify nearly everything - from furniture arrangement to walls, floors, ceilings, and even adding new partition walls. The top-down view option of our house (screenshot below) will help us with this. We will plan individual rooms according to our own preferences. Furthermore, Blizzard also announced a color dyeing system, thanks to which we will be able to change not only the color of the chair upholstery, but even the shade of wood or metal.

Full freedom for creative players

Blizzard underlines that its goal is to provide the greatest freedom in arranging our houses. The advanced mode even allows for non-standard use of items. Devs boast examples in which testers created garlands for the fireplace from plants and constructed a ship's bow from a bed (whatever that means).

When will I get a house in WoW?

Although the latest information mainly focuses on interiors, Blizzard informed that the exterior appearance of our houses doesn't affect their size inside - players will be able to have a small cottage with a spacious interior full of many rooms or vice versa. Creators also announced that this feature will continue to be developed in the future.

We'll likely have to wait until summer for a complete presentation of player housing, when Blizzard unveils the next, the eleventh expansion for WoW, titled Midnight. Meanwhile, the developers encourage players to share their opinions, which can influence the final shape of this anticipated feature. So far, its reception is very positive, and some players comment that they didn't expect it to be so advanced.
