Diablo 4 players aren't thrilled with Season 8 premium pass. Bug „stealing” platinum and seasonal mechanics annoyed fans

Blizzard kicked off the 8th Season of Diablo 4 with a new (and buggy) relic and a not-so-exciting reskin of an old event.

Gamers were not happy with the new, heavily bugged, and "greedy" premium pass for the 8th season of Diablo 4.

Usually, after the release of a new season, players' attention focuses on new content, balance changes, and gameplay improvements. However, for now, Belial's Return is the subject of discussion (or rather complaints) for another reason: Reliquaries, which have somewhat refreshed the D4 battle pass. At least that was the intention of the devs.

Worm-eaten reliquaries

It didn't take long for social media to be flooded with complaints about this expansion. The reason? The reliquaries aren't working properly, and the very idea wasn't warmly received by the players (via Reddit).

The bug is simple but highly irritating: The game charges currency (platinum) for unlocking the Reliquary, but it remains locked. Even purchasing a Deluxe pass doesn't unlock anything, or it does so with a big delay (via Reddit).

There is probably no need to explain how this affects the players' attitude towards the new form of battle pass. Especially since some internet users also report problems with worn-out cosmetic items, some of which have disappeared from virtual "closets" in Diablo IV.

Premium Pass less premium?

Blizzard is aware of these issues, so at least this problem should disappear sooner or later. However, all this commotion didn't really help to put players in a positive mood about reliquaries, and that's not the only issue fans have with this new feature.

Players still receive a refund of some funds (1000 platinum pieces for unlocking all 3 reliquaries). Nevertheless, as internet users point out, the current pass seems to be less valuable than the previous ones. Those had about 90 levels, while the reliquaries allow you to acquire 34 items (not counting the armor and pet from the Deluxe edition).

It should be added that many of the old tiers had smaller rewards, like emojis, character titles, and platinum packs. However, it's the latter that particularly irritates players, or rather, the lack of this valuable metal. Players are getting way less platinum in the premium pass of Season 8 than in previous seasons.

Platinum is now one of the rewards for the free battle pass. However, this just annoys some players: they see it as a "corporate trick" by Blizzard and a devaluation of the paid pass. Although not all fans agree with this argument, they are clearly irritated by the fact that the premium version still costs the same.

These aren't the only accusations. It's also possible to find complaints about the "boring" and "repetitive" seasonal mechanics (which are in fact a "reskin" of the legion event).
