Weapon customization and Super Earth invasion. Helldivers 2 received a big update that got players excited

Even Super Earth isn't safe in Helldivers 2, but new enemies and the return of Illuminate are just part of the major 01,003,000 update.

As usual, the players' victory didn't last long. A new and grotesque threat to the democratically governed world of Helldivers 2 has emerged from the Meridian Singularity.

Some time ago, the citizens of Super Earth celebrated the halt of the Meridian Singularity: a mysterious anomaly caused by the Illuminate, which engulfed many planets before the efforts of the Helldivers thwarted the plans of the "peace-hating" aliens. These forces were also expelled from the space of Democracy - for good.

If you know the history of Helldivers, you probably didn't believe these assurances (much to the dismay of officers eager for the "reeducation" of dissidents). Nonetheless, even the "leading scientists" were surprised by the aliens' next move: the Illuminate forces flew out of the Singularity, setting a course for Super Earth itself.

New enemies have also appeared, including the gruesome Fleshmobs, created from the combination of many Voteless citizens of Democracy who have been kidnapped and brainwashed by the Illuminate. Helldivers should also look at the sky more often.

To face this threat, players have been given access to new equipment customization options. Most of the main weaponry can be upgraded by increasing their level using Requisition. This allows for their upgrading or changing their appearance. In terms of equipment, it's also worth mentioning the change in the Superstore rotation: now all the gear is available all the time.

Here's what guns personalization looks like:

The new features sparked great enthusiasm among players (to say so), but that's not all. Update 01.003.000 also introduces some improvements and balance changes to weapons and enemies. Fans of warm greetings will be pleased with the modification of flamethrowers, which will deal more damage to large enemies after setting them on fire. However, engulfing them in flames will be slightly more difficult than before; the same applies to player characters.

You can find the full list of fixes and updates on the game's forum on Reddit, on the franchise's Discord channel, and on Steam. You can also check out the new video where Creative Director Johan Pilestedt and Project Director Niklas Malmborg discuss the latest update. A separate material was devoted to the weapon personalization system.

Keep in mind that this is a big update. On Steam, version 01.003.000 requires downloading 6.1 GB of data.
